IIT Madras to open its first international campus in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

  • IIT Madras will set up its first International campus in Zanzibar, Tanzania, with plans to start the classes by October 2023.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will be participating in Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multinational air exercise hosted by the Greece Air Force.

  • The exercise will be conducted at the Andravida Air Base in Greece from 24 Apr 2023 to 04 May 2023. The Indian Air Force will be participating with four Su-30 MKI and two C-17 aircraft.

1st 100% private-funded Gati Shakti terminal - "the Rewari Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT)"starts operation.

  • The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCC) on Thursday commenced operations on the Rewari Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode. This became the first operational GCT with complete investment from a private player and zero revenue-sharing on account of the Indian Railways.

Election Commission starts Vote from Home Option in Karnataka.

  • Election Commission has given the option to vote from home in Karnataka Assembly Elections.
  • Persons above the age of 80 and Persons with Disability can cast their votes from their homes.

Maharashtra Government has allowed 4% reservations for Divyang Employees.

  • The Maharashtra Government has introduced a 4% quota for employees with disabilities in promotions. This reservation will apply to cadres where the recruitment through direct service is less than 75%.

Miguel Diaz Canel has been re-elected as president of Cuba.

  • He won the presidential election for the second time with a record 97.66% votes.

United Kingdom’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dominic Raab has resigned from his office.

Arun Singhal (IAS) has been appointed as Director General of the National Archives of India under the Ministry of Culture.

  • Arun Singhal (IAS) has been appointed as Director General of the National Archives of India under the Ministry of Culture in the rank of Secretary by temporarily upgrading the post to Secretary level. Singhal is a 1987-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Presently, he is posted as Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.

Rajesh Kumar Singh (IAS) has been appointed as Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
