India’s Operation Sindoor: 19 BrahMos Missiles Fired by IAF at Pakistani Targets

About a month after India's retaliatory air strike against Pakistan, fresh reports have come in indicating the enormity of Operation Sindoor — a mission that is now ranked among the largest missile attacks in South Asian military history. According to recent inputs of intelligence, between May 7 and May 10, the Indian Air Force (IAF) dropped a series of 19 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, tactically hitting strategic Pakistani airbases.

Accompanying these strikes, the IAF also launched 19 SCALP subsonic cruise missiles, which were procured from France, in a highly coordinated attack to demoralize Pakistan's counter-strike force. Particularly, one of the major targets destroyed was the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters, which was destroyed using Crystal Maze missiles of Israeli origin, indicating India's desire to break terror networks at their root.

After these high-impact actions, India's Defence Ministry, headed by Rajnath Singh, sanctioned a comprehensive modernization of India's airborne arsenal. This involves the investment in longer-range air-to-air missiles, loitering weapons, and Kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, evidencing a strategic shift towards faster response mechanisms and enhanced deterrence through cutting-edge aerial technology.

Post-strike analysis, assisted by real-time observations and satellite imagery, verified that Pakistan had the loss of four fighter jets and two big transport aircraft. Pakistani forces retaliated by firing PL-15 air-to-air missiles — Chinese-developed systems — in an attempt to repel the attack. Moreover, two air defense groups from Malir and Chaklala cantonments were launched but did not intercept the precision-guided Indian missiles.

This well-conceived and well-executed attack highlights a shift in India's air warfare strategy — one that focuses on speed of response, advanced technology, and intelligence-based accuracy. Operation Sindoor is now a defining moment in India's changing military positioning and sends out a clear message: revenge will be swift, sharp, and strategically debilitating.
