What is the NDA Exam?
NDA Examination- The full form is the National Defence Academy Examination, which is the entry test to join the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force as an officer. The examination is held twice a year through the UPSC examination cycle; therefore, the cadets who clear the Written and SSB Interview rounds will get an opportunity to attend the NDA.

NDA 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements about age, educational, marital, and physical standards.
1. Nationality
The candidate must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962.
2. Age Limit
- Candidates must be born between 2nd January 2007 and 1st January 2010.
- The age limit should be 16.5 years to 19.5 years, for the duration of the course commencement.
3. Marital Status
Unmarried male and female candidates only are eligible.

NDA 2026 Syllabus
Mathematics:
Algebra, Trigonometry, Matrices and Determinants, Calculus, Vector Algebra, Statistics & Probability, Analytical Geometry (2D & 3D).
General Ability Test (GAT):
- Part A – English: Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, and Usage.
- Part B – General Knowledge: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs.
The level of questions is based on Class 10–12 NCERT standards.
NDA 2026 Selection Process
The selection procedure for NDA happens in two parts:
Stage 1 – Written Examination
Candidates appear for two papers (Maths + GAT). Based on the cut-off marks, UPSC shortlists candidates for the next stage.
Stage 2 – SSB Interview
The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview tests the overall personality, leadership qualities, and officer-like traits of the candidate.
- Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test + Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT)
- Stage II: Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO), and Personal Interview

Candidates who clear both stages undergo a medical examination before the final merit list is prepared.
NDA 2026 Admit Card
- The NDA admit card will be released 3 weeks before the exam date on the UPSC website.
- Candidates can download the NDA admit card through either their registration ID or roll number.
- Candidates must bring a printed copy of the NDA admit card as well as a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre.
Exam Day Instructions
- Bring a black ballpoint pen and a clipboard.
- Calculators, smartwatches, or electronic devices are not allowed.
- Reach the exam centre at least one hour before reporting time.
