Introduction:- Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune is one of India's premier medical institutes, known for training medical professionals who serve in the Indian Armed Forces. Established in 1948, it is a highly sought-after institution due to its excellent academic curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities, and unique opportunities for its students. This institute trains officers for medical units in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. AFMC, Pune is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

These medical professionals, in the majority, are commissioned into the Indian Army’s Army Medical Corps or AMC. Generally, people are less aware of the Army Medical Corps of the Indian Army. AFMC, Pune has produced some of the best officers for the Indian Army like Major Surendra Punia, Major Laishram Jyotin, and Major Srishti Khullar who led The women contingent of the Armed Forces Medical Service during the Republic Day Parade 2024.

Admission Process

  • Now we totally understand that you are very motivated to join AFMC, Pune and now you wish to know the admission process of this institute.

 

  • To apply to AFMC, Pune, you need to appear in the NEET (UG) Examination which is conducted by the NTA.

 

  • After the declaration of your result, you have to choose AFMC, Pune during your NEET counseling.

 

  • After applying to AFMC, Pune, AFMC will decide on a cut-off and will issue call-up letters to around 600-800 students.

 

Reporting candidates will undergo a selection process of 5-8 days at AFMC Pune. This selection process will include the following tests:

  • ToELR
  • PAT
  • Medical Tests

 

ToELR Test (Test of English and Logical Reasoning)

The ToELR Test will be the test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic, and Reasoning. This test will include 80 questions of 80 marks.

 

PAT (Psychological Assessment Test)

In this test, a few psychological questions will be asked to assess candidates’ thought processes.

 

Interview

An interview will also be conducted in the last. This interview will be of 50 marks.

 

SSB Medicals

Some basic medical tests will be conducted on candidates’ physical fitness for the Armed Forces.

 

Final Selection

After all tests, a final cut-off will be prepared by adding NEET marks and ToELR Test Marks after dividing the score by 4 to get a score out of 200. After getting a score of out of 200, marks of the interview will also be added. So final merit will be prepared by adding marks of NEET, ToELR, and Interview.

For example, if you got 600 marks in NEET and 50 marks in ToELR Test then your score will be 162.5. Your final score will be decided after adding interview marks.

Based on your final score, your selection in AFMC, Pune will be decided.

 

Cut Off

NEET Cut Off for AFMC, Pune varies every year, but it generally around 550-600 marks.

If we talk about the last year (2023), the NEET cut-off for AFMC, Pune was 648 for Girls and 622 for Boys.

 

Number of Seats

There are a total of 145 medical Seats at AFMC, Pune.  (115 seats for boys & 30 seats for girls)

 

Reservation

Out of 145 Seats, 10 Seats will be reserved for SC Category Students.

 

Duration of MBBS Course

The duration of the MBBS course is 4 ½ years followed by compulsory rotating internship training of one year. All medical cadets commissioned into the AFMS will undergo internship training in selected service hospitals recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
