Indian Air Force Celebrates the Spirit of Courage, Discipline, and Teamwork
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to organize the Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 (SIM-25) on 2nd November 2025, bringing together fitness, patriotism, and national pride in one single event. The marathon will include Half Marathon (21.097 km), 10 km, and 5 km runs, where citizens of all sections of society are invited to join hands with air warriors in a show of respect for courage, oneness, and resilience.
The mega event will be led off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, and will also be conducted simultaneously at 60 Air Force stations all over India, representing the extensive reach and ethos of the IAF. This marathon is a tribute of love to Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the lone IAF officer who was conferred with the Param Vir Chakra, India's greatest military honor, for his extreme gallantry in the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
Under the motto "Run with Pride, Soar with Spirit," SIM-25 embodies the true essence of the Indian Air Force — courage, discipline, and harmony. It is not just a fitness run but also a national movement that delights in the vigor, willpower, and unquenchable spirit of India's air warriors.
The run events are a Half Marathon at 5:30 AM, a 10 km run at 6:00 AM, and a 5 km run at 6:30 AM. The half marathon cut-off will be 3.5 hours, providing competitiveness as well as accessibility to runners of all experience levels ranging from professional to beginners.
Sponsored by IOCL, hosted by IDFC First Bank, and supported by HAL & BEL, the Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 establishes the nexus among defence, corporate, and society to build a healthier, stronger country.
This project aligns with the Fit India Movement of the Government of India as well, further cementing the IAF's position as not only a guardian of the skies but also a champion of citizens' health, togetherness, and fitness. As it unites civilians with Air Force members, SIM-25 narrows the divide between people and forces, fortifying the common sense of national pride and shared mission.
Over 93,000 runners will be taking to the streets of America, generating an enormous wave of passion and unity spanning from major cities to outlying Air Force bases.
Structured under the direction of the Air Force Sports Control Board, aided by the local Air Force stations, community partners, and fitness organizations, the event shall have a world-class level of safety and logistics. Volunteers, medical personnel, hydration stations, and fitness coaches will be located along each route to provide an inspiring and hassle-free experience for participants.
The Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 isn't a race — it's a tribute to Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon's legendary courage, a celebration of the Air Force's indomitable spirit, and an invitation to every citizen to discover fitness, unity, and the spirit of service.
