India Successfully Tests Back-to-Back Launches of Prithvi-II and Agni-I Missiles from Chandipur

India on Thursday exhibited its strategic strike capability by successfully testing the Prithvi-II and Agni-I ballistic missiles from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha. The tests, undertaken under the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), were meant to confirm operational readiness and mission capability.

The defense establishment confirmed both missiles hit their targeted objectives with accuracy, meeting all the requirements of the mission. The tests reaffirmed the credibility, dependability, and technological robustness of India's domestic missile capabilities. Prithvi-II, crafted for short-range, accurate strikes with a range of nearly 350 kilometers, and Agni-I, with a strike range up to 700 kilometers, are prime elements of India's strategic deterrent system.

Equipped with sophisticated navigation, control, and guidance systems, the two platforms form an integral part of India's "credible minimum deterrence" philosophy. Defense analysts see the successful tests as evidence of India's continued emphasis on having a robust, responsive nuclear-armed force.

Carried out in a user-training mode, the test fires are part of routine exercises undertaken by the Strategic Forces Command to validate the operational readiness of its missile men. The Ministry of Defence and SFC commended the perfect conduct and the professionalism of the teams, another milestone in India's quest for strategic self-reliance and national security.
