Indian Coast Guard Inducts Adamya

Indian Coast Guard Commission's 'Adamya' - A New Era in Fast Patrol Operations Commences

In a resurgent drive towards maritime modernization and indigenous capabilities, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has commissioned 'Adamya', the lead of eight advanced Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). Commissioned at Goa, the ship is a giant step in India's coastal security and indigenous defence production.

'Adamya' is unique as the first FPV in the ICG fleet that successfully incorporates locally produced gearboxes and Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPPs), enhancing its maneuverability, range of operations, and performance during high-intensity maritime operations from coastal monitoring to prompt response activities.

Equipped with next-generation technology, the ship is fitted with a 30mm CRN-91 naval gun, two 12.7mm remote weapon systems coupled with fire control technology, and an integrated package of management systems such as the Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS), and Automated Power Management System (APMS). All these high-tech features improve the accuracy of missions, streamline ship operations, and enhance the ICG's role in securing India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), rescue operations, and enforcing maritime law.

Commissioned from top to bottom in India, 'Adamya' is a testament to the country's homegrown shipbuilding strengths and fits perfectly within the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. When the entire fleet of eight FPVs comes into active service, India's naval forces will have faster response rates, improved situational awareness, and more robust coastal protection.

The commissioning of 'Adamya' is not merely about a vessel, it is about constructing a wiser, faster, and Aatmanirbhar maritime future.
