11 People died due to Gas Leakage in Ludhiana.

International Affairs

India and Russia are working to recognize each other’s banking cards in their respective countries.

India and Germany are working to set up a Hotline between the two countries.

• This hotline will allow easy and instant communication between the officials of India and Germany.
• This will help in countering security threats due to terrorism or other activities.

A referendum is being conducted in Uzbekistan to allow the president to remain in power till 2040.

• A constitutional referendum is being conducted in Uzbekistan that could allow President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to remain in power until 2040.
• The constitutional changes would extend presidential terms from five to seven years, allowing him to serve two more terms and extend his time in power until 2040.

Pakistan becomes the largest recipient of ADB Funs.

• Pakistan got loans of 5.58 billion $ from the Asian Development Bank making it the largest recipient of ADB Funds.

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers increased by 0.6 points to 133.3.

• The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) , which is released by the Labour Bureau, increased by 0.6 points to 133.3.
• Maximum increase was recorded in the fuel and light category of CPI-IW.

• Labour Day 2023: May 1st, is a widely celebrated holiday worldwide that recognises the achievements of the labour movement.
• The Central Labour Union of New York City arranged the first Labour Day observation in the United States on September 5, 1882. In 1894, following the Pullman Strike, the holiday became a federal one after the deaths of multiple labourers.
