  • This 11-member committee will be headed by Rajesh Gopal and will oversee the implementation of Project Cheetah.
  • This committee was constituted after 4 Cheetahs died in Kuno PalPur Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh.

The Al Mohed Al Hindi Naval Exercise took place between the Indian Navy and the Saudi Arabian Navy.

  • The Indian Navy Forces and Royal Saudi Naval Forces finalized preparations for the upcoming joint naval exercise, ‘Al-Mohed-Al Hindi-23’, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has finalized new rules for the Special Protection Group.

  • Under the new rules, the SPG will be led by an officer, not below the rank of Additional Director-General from the Indian Police Service (IPS).
  • The SPG is a specialized force dedicated to providing security to the Prime Minister, former PMs, and their immediate families. Its inception in 1985 followed the tragic assassination of PM Indira Gandhi in 1984.

                                                      Awards and Honours

Three Indian peacekeepers, who died during UN missions last year, were honored posthumously with a prestigious UN medal.

  • Indian envoy to the UN Ruchira Kamboj received the Dag Hammarskjold Medal in honor of the Indian UN peacekeepers who died in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Iraq last year.
