Officers Training Academy, Chennai: Passing Out Parade Ceremony 2023

186 Cadets from India and 29 Foreign Cadets from Bhutan have received their commissioning in passing out parade ceremony at Officers Training Academy in Chennai. These cadets have been commissioned after 49 weeks of tough training. These cadets will be commissioned into different regiments of the Indian Army. 186 gentleman cadets and lady cadets belong to SSC-114 and SSC (W)- 28 Courses respectively. In this course, the first batch of five female officers of the artillery regiment has also been commissioned.

 

Officers Training Academy Chennai

Officers Training Academy, Chennai is situated in Chennai and this premier training institute of the Indian Army trains short service commission officers of the Indian Army. OTA Chennai trains candidates selected through CDS, SSC-Tech, NCC Special Entry Scheme, and Judge Advocate General Scheme. The duration of training at OTA Chennai is 49 weeks which includes physical training, field training, and service subjects training. It is one of the most unique training establishments of the Indian Army because it is the training academy that started training lady officers of the Indian Army.

Why is the OTA Chennai Passing Out Ceremony so special this time?

The passing-out ceremony at OTA Chennai is always special but this passing-out ceremony is extra special. In the passing-out ceremony in 2023 at OTA Chennai, The first batch of five female officers of the Artillery Regiment was commissioned. This passing out parade ceremony is special due to one more reason, Lieutenant Rekha Singh who is the wife of Late Naik Deepak Singh, the Hero Galwan, has also been commissioned into Indian Army.

186 Cadets who have crossed ‘Antim-Pag’ to get commissioning in the Indian Army, will now be commissioned into the Indian Army as Lieutenants. They will be further sent for pre-induction training in their respective regiments. Cadets receive stars on their shoulders after gruesome training at OTA Chennai which is famous for hard training due to the harsh climate in Chennai. OTA Chennai is known for creating the finest officers of the Indian Army and the recent commission will continue the legacy of OTA, Chennai.
