The Indian Army has released the entire eligibility requirements for recruitment of young defence aspirants as Agniveers through the Agnipath scheme on its official website. For the proposed recruiting cycle in 2022, the government has also agreed to provide a one-time waiver in the maximum age limit. As an outcome, the Agnipath scheme's upper age limit for recruitment in 2022 has been raised to 23 years. Registration will be opened from July 2022 and candidates willing to enroll as Agniveers must log into the official website of the Indian Army as online registration is mandatory. Terms and Service Conditions for Enrollment as an Agniveer

 

  • Candidates will be enrolled under Army Act 1950 for a service duration of four years including the training period.

  • Agniveers so enrolled will be subject to Army Act, 1950 and will be liable to go wherever ordered, by land, sea or air.

  • The service of Agniveers enrolled under the scheme will commence from the date of enrolment and they will not be eligible for any kind of Pension or Gratuity. 

  • Agniveers would form a distinct rank in the Indian Army, different from any other existing ranks.

  • Leave, Uniform, Pay & Allowances during the service period of four years will be governed by orders and instructions in respect of such individuals issued by the Government of India from time to time.

  • Agniveeers will be liable to be assigned any duty in organizational interest, as decided from time to time and they can be posted to any regiment/unit. 

 

Terms and Service Conditions regarding Discharge and Leave 

 

  • All Agniveers will be discharged on completion of four years of service and will be paid a ‘Seva Nidhi’ package to enable them to return to the society for pursuing employment in other sectors.

  • Agniveers will not be eligible for any kind of pension or gratuity, nor will they be eligible for Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen Stores Department (CSD) facilities, Ex-Serviceman status and other related benefits.

  • Grant of leave will be subject to exigencies of service and the leave may be applicable for Agniveers during their engagement period including an annual leave for 30 days per year and sick leave based on medical advice. 

 

Agniveer Recruitment Scheme: Eligibility Criteria

 

Trade

Education Qualification

General Duty

17 ½ - 23 Years

Class 10 passed with 45% marks in aggregate and 33% in each subject.

Technical

17 ½ - 23 Years

10+2 passed in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject, or 10+2 passed with the ITI course of minimum one year in the required field.

Technical Aviation & Ammunition Examiner

17 ½ - 23 Years

10+2 passed in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English with min 50% marks in aggregate and 40% in each subject, or 10+2 passed with the ITI course of minimum one year in the required field.

Clerk/Store Keeper (Technical)

17 ½ - 23 Years

10+2 passed in any stream with 60% marks in aggregate and a minimum of 50% in each subject. Securing 50% marks in English and Maths/Accounts/Book-Keeping is mandatory.

Tradesmen 10th Pass

17 ½ - 23 Years

Class 10th simple pass with 33% marks in each subject.

Tradesmen 8th Pass

17 ½ - 23 Years

Class 8th simple pass with 33% marks in each subject.

 

Candidates applying for enrollment as Agniveers should note that the upper age limit has been relaxed from 21 years to 23 years as a one-time measure for the Recruiting Year 2022-23. As per the notification issued on the official website of the Indian Army, 01 October 2022 will be taken as the effective date of determining the age eligibility for candidates.

 

Benefits for Agniveers Exiting After Completing Four Years of Service

 

  • Seva Nidhi Package - The corpus generated after four years of contribution will be paid to the exiting Agniveers.

  • ‘Agniveer’ Skill Certificate - A detailed Skill-set certificate will be provided to the Agniveers.

  • Class 12th Certificate - Agniveers who have been enrolled after qualifying class 10th, a certificate for 12th class will be given on completion of their 4 years engagement period.
