In an official reply, the Minister of state for defence Mr. Shripad Naik said that total 9,118 Female Defence Officers are serving in the Indian Armed Forces and this number is continuously increasing.

Indian Army follows strict parameters for height and weight requirements. Female Candidates have to fulfill this height and weight requirement for securing their career in the Indian Army.

Soldier

  • 152 cms for normal candidates
  • 148 for female candidates belonging to northeast or hill communities like Garhwal or Kumaon.

Officer

  • 152 cms for normal candidates

Weight Requirements for Females in India Army

Indian Army follows a prescribed weight requirement which varies as per the height and age of the Candidates. This parameter is known as the Height and Weight Chart.

How to ensure proper height and weight for Indian Army

Female Candidates should ensure their that they fulfill the prescribed weight and height requirement. If you are short in height and below the age of 18 then you can increase your height. For increasing height do some stretching exercises and take more and more protein. If are overweight or underweight, try to make changes in your diet and do regular exercise.
