Kerala becomes the first state in India to launch a welfare fund for MGNREGA Workers.

  • Kerala has become the first state in India to launch a welfare fund for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
  • This fund will be based on Kerala Employment Guarantee Workers’ Welfare Fund.
  • Under this scheme, MGNREGA workers will contribute 50 Rupees per month and the government will deposit the same amount.
