Telangana has become the first state in India to launch the ‘Cool Roof’ Policy to beat the heat in urban spaces.

• The cool roof policy will reduce the temperature in an urban area where temperature increases due to the heat island effect.
• Under this policy roofs of buildings will be painted with special paints to reflect sun rays thus reducing the temperature.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has celebrated the 5th Poshan Pakhwada.

• The main aim of this poshan pakhwasa was to raise awareness about nutrition.
• The theme of Poshan Pakhwasa is ‘Nutrition for all: Together towards a  healthy India’

Union Ministry of Rural Development has launched Captive Employer Scheme under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushal Vikas Yojna (DDU-GKY).

• Under this scheme, rural youth will be provided training and employment opportunities in 19 captive sectors.
• Deen Dayal Updhaya is a placement-linked skilling program.
• DDU-GKY was launched on 25 September 2014. The Vision of DDU-GKY is to "Transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce". It aims to target youth, in the age group of 15–35 years.

Eravikulam National Park in Tamil Nadu becomes the first National Park in India to get Fernarium.

• Eravikulam National Park is situated in the western ghats in the state of Tamil Nadu.
• A fernarium is a type of botanical garden or greenhouse that specializes in cultivating and displaying various species of ferns. Ferns are part of the Epiphytic family.

China has changed the name of 11 places of Arunachal Pradesh.

• China claims Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet and claims it as its territory.
• China refers Arunachal Pradesh as ‘Zangnam’.

NASA has named the first woman and the first black person for a lunar mission.

• The first woman for a lunar mission- Christina Koch
• The first black person for a lunar mission- Victor Glover
• The Artemis program is a lunar program of NASA that intended to reestablish a human presence on the Moon for the first time since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

Vice-Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh has been appointed as Vice-Chief of Naval Staff.

• Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, AVSM, NM assumed the appointment of the Vice Chief of Naval Staff.
• VAdm Sanjay Jasjit Singh is a graduate of the National Defence Academy, Pune, and was commissioned in 1986.

RBI has appointed Neeraj Nigam as New Executive Director.

• Neeraj Nigam, as Executive Director, will look after Consumer Education and Protection Department, Financial Inclusion and Development Department, Legal Department, and Secretary’s Department.
