Indian Army Launches AI and Drone-Powered Training at Grenadiers Regimental Centre, Jabalpur

The Indian Army is expediting its transition towards future battles through the addition of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drone-based training facilities at the Grenadiers Regimental Centre in Jabalpur. During his visit, Lt. Gen. Ajay Kumar, Director General of the Infantry, viewed the recently created AI-driven Drill Nursery, Tech-Tac Room, and Drone Training Laboratory. He welcomed these new developments, citing their impact on sharpening the skills of soldiers and making the force combat-ready for contemporary battle situations.

A study in the Journal of Defense Technology indicates that AI-enabled simulations can reduce reaction time by almost 30%. The opening of the Drone Training Lab also shows the Army's initiative toward autonomous systems, following global trends wherein such technologies have boosted operational effectiveness by around 25%, based on a RAND Corporation study.

Lt. Gen. Kumar also interacted with Agniveers, new recruits under the Agnipath scheme, and appreciated their willingness to embrace tech-centric soldiering. Official records of the Ministry of Defence report a 15% increase in tech-oriented recruits after the scheme was introduced in 2022.

Highlighting the Army's commitment to innovation and combat readiness, Lt. Gen. Kumar stated that the induction of AI and drone technology is a defining step towards creating an agile, adaptive, and future-ready infantry.
