What are basic difference between Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission entries?

Definition

Permanent Commission Officer can serve till he retires

Short Service Commission Officer servesfor a period of 10 years. However, the tenure extended to 14 years. 

Option

They do not have a option to take short service commission

They also have a option to take permanent commission

Candidates selected go to National Defense Academy (NDA), Pune orIndian Military Academy (IMA)

Candidates go to Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai

Selection Process

Candidates can take the NDA entrance exam during 12th Appearing and they also need to clear the SSB Interview

Need to clear the written exam and the SSB interview

 

On the one hand there is Short Service Commission in which Officer can either opt for a Permanent Commission or can opt out of the Indian Army while Permanent Commission Officer serve the nation up to the full age of retirement .
