Rashtrapati Bhavan saw a moment of national respect on June 4th, as the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 (Phase-2) took place to pay tribute to the unrelenting allegiance of the Indian Armed Forces. With the Hon'ble President of India giving away the awards, the event paid homage to the bravery, commitment, and discipline that characterize India's military ethos.

On hand to receive the awardees were General Upendra Dwivedi, the 30th Chief of the Army Staff, and Mrs. Suniti Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). Together, they saw it fit to appreciate the courage and outstanding service of awardees who have made contributory efforts to the security of the country.

Honouring the Guardians of the Nation

This elite ceremony honored staff for their loyalty in war zones and other areas. From heroic deeds on the battlefield to unyielding service in peacekeeping, every award winner embodied the excellence of the Armed Forces. Decorations such as the Mention in Dispatches, a post-Independence tradition, continue to underscore India's abiding admiration for exceptional military service.

General Dwivedi’s personal interaction with the honourees and their families added a deeply human touch to the ceremony. In his words, “Behind every medal lies not just a soldier’s sacrifice, but the strength and resilience of their family.”

Leadership with Vision

Assuming command of the Army in June 2024, General Upendra Dwivedi is taking the Army into a new era of modernization. With a focus on indigenous technology and self-reliance, he is committed to the Government of India's Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. His leadership is in favour of a future-ready force—technologically sophisticated, strategically efficient, and operationally deadly.

Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, who took charge as AWWA President in July 2024, reaffirmed the mission of the association: the total welfare of Army families. AWWA continues to empower war widows, offer educational guidance, and train families in vocational skills, strengthening the social fabric of the Army community.

A Ceremony Beyond Medals

This was not just an official reception—it was a moving tribute. The presence of military commanders, gallantry awardees, and their families turned Rashtrapati Bhavan into a temple of national gratitude. Emotions were high, as tales of courage were received with standing ovations and silent salutes.

In his valedictory remark, General Dwivedi underscored the need for recognition to motivate next-generation warriors. He reinforced that acknowledging service is imperative to preserve the principles of sacrifice, togetherness, and national pride.

The Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 was a strong affirmation of India's constant reverence for its defenders—a moment when tradition, pride, and patriotism marched side by side.
