IMA Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade to Be Held on 13 June 2026

IMA Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade

The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, is preparing to host its prestigious Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade (PoP) on 13 June 2026. The event will mark the successful completion of military training for hundreds of officer cadets who are set to receive their commissions in the Indian Army.

While every Passing Out Parade is a proud occasion for the Academy, this year's ceremony will hold special historical significance. The parade will witness the commissioning of the first-ever batch of women officer cadets trained at IMA, making it a milestone event in the Academy's distinguished history.

A New Chapter for IMA

Established in 1932, the Indian Military Academy has trained generations of military leaders who have gone on to serve the nation with distinction. For nearly a century, the Academy has remained one of India's premier institutions for officer training.

The Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade will add a remarkable chapter to this legacy. Eight women officer cadets who joined the IMA in July 2025 have successfully completed their training and are expected to pass out alongside their fellow cadets. Their commissioning marks a significant step forward in expanding opportunities for women in the armed forces and reflects the evolving character of military leadership in India.

The occasion is expected to become one of the most memorable moments in the Academy's 94-year journey.

President Droupadi Murmu to Review the Parade

Adding further prestige to the occasion, the President of India and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, is expected to attend the event as the Reviewing Officer (RO). She will preside over the parade and review the marching contingents during the ceremony.

The presence of the President makes the event even more special. Over the years, only a few Presidents of India have reviewed Passing Out Parades at IMA, including:

  • A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in 2006
  • Pratibha Patil in 2011
  • Ram Nath Kovind in 2021

Now, President Murmu is set to add another memorable chapter to this proud tradition.

The Tradition and Pride of the Passing Out Parade

The Passing Out Parade is considered one of the most prestigious military ceremonies in India. It signifies the completion of intensive training and the transformation of cadets into commissioned officers of the Indian Army.

The event is known for its flawless drill movements, military precision, and deep emotional value. Families and well-wishers travel from different parts of the country to witness their loved ones achieve this remarkable milestone.

Among the most cherished traditions is the "Antim Pag" or Final Step. This symbolic moment marks the transition from Gentleman Cadet to commissioned officer and represents the fulfillment of years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance.

Upholding a Proud Legacy

Over the decades, IMA has produced thousands of officers who have served in various operations, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions across the world. The Academy continues to uphold its reputation for excellence in military leadership and professional training.

The previous Passing Out Parade held in December 2025 saw 491 officer cadets commissioned into the Indian Army. The ceremony also included foreign cadets from friendly nations, highlighting IMA's international standing as a leading military training institution.

The upcoming Spring Term 2026 Parade is expected to continue this proud tradition while ushering in a new era of greater inclusivity.

Inspiration for Defence Aspirants

For candidates preparing for NDA, CDS, AFCAT, TES, and other defence entry schemes, the Passing Out Parade serves as a powerful source of motivation.

Every officer standing on the Drill Square began their journey with a dream of serving the nation. Their success reflects years of hard work, determination, physical endurance, and unwavering commitment.

The commissioning of women officer cadets also sends an encouraging message to aspiring candidates across the country, demonstrating that the Indian Armed Forces continue to create new opportunities for talented young men and women.

The IMA Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade on 13 June 2026 is set to be a historic occasion that combines military tradition with progressive change. With President Droupadi Murmu expected to review the parade and the first batch of women officer cadets receiving commissions, the ceremony will be remembered as a landmark event in the Academy's history.
