This amount corresponds to Pay Matrix Level 10, which is also the starting pay level for newly commissioned officers.
Do Cadets Receive the Full ₹56,100 in Hand?
While the official stipend is ₹56,100 per month, cadets do not receive the entire amount directly in their bank accounts. Certain mandatory deductions are made for insurance coverage and other training-related expenses.
These deductions are designed to provide financial security and ensure that cadets have access to essential facilities throughout their training period.
Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) Deduction
One of the major deductions is for the Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF). Every cadet is covered under this insurance scheme, which provides financial protection to the cadet and their family in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Typically, around ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 is deducted every month towards this insurance coverage.
Grooming and Training-Related Expenses

How Much Money Do Cadets Actually Receive?
After all mandatory deductions, NDA and military academy cadets usually receive around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per month as take-home pay.
This amount is often referred to as "cash in hand." The exact figure may vary depending on the deductions applicable at the time.
Government Covers Most Major Expenses
One important point that many people overlook is that the government bears the cost of most essential requirements during training. Accommodation, food, medical facilities, training equipment, uniforms, and several other necessities are provided by the academy.

What Happens After Training?
Once cadets complete their training and pass out from their respective academies, they are commissioned as officers in the Armed Forces. Depending on the service, they are appointed as:
