Successful Test of Agni-5 Missile

Recently, DRDO (Defence Research and  Development Organisation) successfully conducted Tets of Agni-5 Missile which is Intern Continental Ballistic Missile(ICBM). This Test was conducted on Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. Agni-5 is part of the Integrated Missile Guided Missile Development Programme which was started by APJ Abdul Kalam.

 

Features of Agni-5 Missile

Agni-5 is part of Agni Missile Family which are of medium to intercontinental ranges of 700Km to 5000km. Agni-6 which will have range of 8000 km, is under development phase.

Importance of Agni-5 Missile

 

Agni-5 Missile is a nuclear capable missile of India which has range of more than 5000 Km. Agni-5 Missile has so many prime targets like Beijing under its range. Other than China, Agni-5 Missile can reach cities of even Africa and Europe. Nuclear Capable Agni-5 Missile provides much required nuclear deterrent against china who has been very aggressive against India.  This missile has an exceptional speed of Mach 24 speed which is 29,401 km/h. Knowledge of all weapons and missiles is important for Defence Aspirants who are preparing for NDA or SSB.
