What is the Armed Forces Veterans Day?

Armed Forces Veterans day is celebrated on January 14, because on January 14, 1953, First Commander in Chief of Independent India, Field Marshal KM Cariappa retired.

The First Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated on January 14, 2016, and it was decided to commemorate this day every year by hosting such interactive events in the honor of our Armed Forces  Veterans and their families.

Who are Veterans in the Armed Forces?

A veteran in the Armed Forces is a person who has served in any rank in the Indian Army or Indian Navy or Indian Air Force. This includes Armed Forces Personnel who retired after completing their service, medically retired or were released from service at the request.

Armed Forces Veterans Day will be celebrated throughout the whole country and ‘We For Veterans’ Anthem-an ode to our Veterans commemorating their valor and sacrifice will also be played at the events. Today Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Ji will hand over ‘Shaurya Sthal’ developed by Uttrakhand War Memorial Trust to the Indian Army.
