SSB Thematic Apperception Test is a psychological-based test. The candidates herein are shown ambiguous pictures and are then supposed to derive a story from the given pictures. The story should comprise a hero, the problems/crisis he is facing, and how he is going to overcome it thus the candidate must develop and write a story of his own based on the images given. It is very important to analyze and understand the image or situation and interpret the meanings in the third person because that shows the candidate’s state of mind.
Some Useful Tips to Excel in PPDT and TAT in SSB Interview
In the TAT as described above, it is assumed that the candidates will deal with the problem in a novel manner taking steps to bring about improvement. The main objective is to discover the candidate’s subconscious behavior. The candidates are required to write a relevant story about a real-life situation that they have encountered in their surroundings and how they resolved it to the best of their abilities. When candidates’ views are judged along with their relevant conduct, their stories accurately depict both their social norms and civic obligations. Below mentioned are some tips to how to construct positive TAT stories in the SSB interview.

SSB TAT Story Sample 1
Shweta was a pharmaceutical researcher. A virus had spread near her society. She was treating so many patients and even after her relentless efforts, she was not able to save much of them. She started working on the drug, collected the data, and specimens, and successfully made the genetic code of the virus. Then her team planned to make a vaccine for the same. She divided them into a team of two. One for the transcription of the virus from RNA to DNA and the other for coordinating with the government and gathering all resources. After making the trial version of the vaccine successfully, she administered it on the volunteers with the government’s permission. The vaccine had a 95% success rate and soon was approved by the health ministry and ICMR. The entire area was vaccinated and the spread of the virus was stopped further. Shweta was elated and content with the teamwork and cooperation of the government.

SSB TAT Story Sample 2
Rajat was an IT professional in a respectable organization. One day while sleeping he found his sister crying outside his room. He calmed and enquired the problem from her. She wanted to achieve her dream of becoming a pilot in the aviation industry and was very hurt and sad due to her marriage being fixed by her family. Rajat quickly had a word with his parents and convinced them to give his sister some time and to delay her marriage. He spoke the matter with the groom who also supported and encouraged her in this decision. She was very happy and motivated and soon got admitted in a flying school. Rajat was thankful to the groom and his parents and continued his daily work.

SSB TAT Story Sample 3
Manoj was an IT professional working in an esteemed company. One day he thought of developing an app to help the farmers and villagers of his area. He called his friend to put up for a meeting. Manoj put forward the idea of an app that would give agricultural news, show possible market analysis, provide weather forecasts, and give inputs on soil type. His friend liked this idea and suggested providing the same in multilingual and verbal mode. They both started working on the same and after 5 months of hard work and sincere efforts, the app was ready to launch. This app was free and successful in delivering all the data. Farmers found it very helpful and gave a good response. Manoj was very happy with the efforts made by his team.

SSB TAT Story Sample 4
Farhan went for an evening walk one day. He often loved to spend time near the river as it had a peaceful environment and he loved it. But when he reached, he saw a mischievous boy jumping in the river and struggling to come out. He immediately ran towards him to save him and untied the safety rope nearby. He threw the rope towards him and took him to safety. But the boy became unconscious so he laid him down and pushed the stomach area to pump the water out. The boy regained consciousness and was finally safe. Farhan took him to a nearby doctor nearby and also informed his parents about this incident. He advised him not to risk his life that way and left for his walk once his parents arrived.
